Arthur Douët, Jamaican-born visual
artist, teacher, and lecturer, studied at Ecole des Beaux Arts in
Paris from 1966-69 and then at the Arts Students' League of New York
in 1975. Since 1970, Douët has taught extramural classes in
imaginative composition and portraiture at the University of Houston
and the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. He has taught the
art of portrait drawing for investigative purposes to classes of law
enforcement officers at Texas A&M University and art classes at many
Unity and New Thought centers.
Apart from doing realistic social portraits in oils and
pastels, Douët does interpretive or interior portraits of persons desiring
this depth. Prior to painting a portrait, Douët "gets to know" the client
by conversing and meditating to achieve a state of heightened awareness. He
stills his conscious mind and enters the inner space in Being, "listening"
to impressions from Spirit or the angels. Depending on client preference,
portraits may be realistic or interpretive "soul portraits." He says that
each soul portrait is "a visual poem of a person." Contemporary pastel,
charcoal and oil paintings reflect impressions from Douët's soul or higher
Self. Douët conveys through color and image something of the depth and
meaning of the great Life within all things.
 Douët
has appeared on cable television talk shows and television broadcast
specials, including NBC's Angels I and Angels II. He was guest
artist at the Second International Symposium 'Liberties and Limits of
Man in Tours France, April 1990. Book covers include: The Healing of

the Cosmic Christ, by John Rossner, Guide to the Star Essences by
Drs. Paul and Martry Nash, Fontein Der Jeugd by Peter Kelder, and
